Coby Carruthers from Concord just won the Emirates Golf Federation’s UAE Cup for a second time after taking the lead from start to finish and scoring 67 in the last round at Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting, and Golf Club.
With par 66, 69 and 67 notes in three rounds, Coby Carruthers won by four shots leaving a group of three players including blues star Jye Hall who shared second position.
In the final round, Coby Carruthers faced double bogey and bogey in the first two holes. Therefore, he was forced to recover with four successive birdies, and made two additional birdies on holes 12 and 16 to end three under par by having a very strong last nine holes.
“I was a little nervous at the end – but overall, I am very happy with my week,” said Coby Carruthers, congratulating him like a 19-year old who won the prize.

“I came into it not playing that well. I will 100% take up the Challenge Tour invite back here in the UAE in 2025 also the spot in the Final Qualifying Stage in the Asian Tour Qualifying School in December 2024.
In the Elite Ladies Division, Ella Scaysbrook based in Newcastle was second and Rachel Lee from Avondale was third.
“I would like to commend my Australian teammates here this week – Jye Halls who tied for second in the Men’s Elite Division and the Ladies Elite Australians: Ella Scaysbrook in second, and Rachel Lee in third,” said Coby Carruthers.
“We have all had a fun time in Al Ain and the UAE and done everything together as one unit.”
“I would like to extend my appreciation to the EGF, the Golf club and Al Ain for this week’s tournament in its entirety taking care of all the players and officials for it has been touching.”
“It has been a very profitable and quite a busy week as it has been for all of us NSW guys and gals. I am preparing for the 2025 UAE Cup wherein I will try my best to defend it if I’m given a chance to represent my country,” he added.
Carruthers now shifts his gaze towards the New South Wales Open which is set to take place at Murray Downs from the 14th to the 17th of November, aiming to maintain his momentum.
“My next event is the New South Wales Open in about two weeks – as for tomorrow, we all are going to spend the day in Dubai even though we are going back to Australia tomorrow night.”
