Participants experienced both laughter and action-packed play throughout the second People of Determination Day during the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships.
The event aimed to promote sports inclusivity allowed participants from across the emirate to enjoy an active morning of tennis before meeting Indian doubles player Yuki Bhambri.
The Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium hosted more than 130 participants from eight schools and vocational training centres who received support from qualified coaches along with dedicated volunteers.
The young enthusiasts experienced firsthand the unifying power of sports while playing rallies and games with Bhambri who teamed up with Alexei Popyrin to defeat World No1 doubles duo Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic in Tuesday’s Round of 16.
Bhambri highlighted that this event demonstrates an effective way schools can foster a passion for tennis in students.
These programs give participants the benefit of playing tennis while enabling them to watch professional players perform live. Schools and organisations should adopt these practices to build a robust sporting culture within the nation.
