UAE’s IPL-style ILT20 tournament to start on National Day

The 4th Season of the DP World International League T20 will commence on December 2 – UAE National Day (Eid-Al-Etihad). The tournament includes 34 matches and will conclude with the final on January 4, 2026, Sunday.

The largest T20 league in the Gulf has shifted from its January-February schedule as now follows the February-March 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. 

“Khalid Al Zarooni, Chairman ILT20 and Vice-Chairman Emirates Cricket Board, stated, ‘We are glad to confirm the DP World International League T20 Season 4 will kick off on UAE National Day – Eid-Al-Etihad – a significant day on the UAE calendar.’”

Consistently turning up for us as a privilege, coming together with the country in celebrating UAE National Day 2025 will be marked with the inauguration of the region’s largest T20 league – The DP World ILT20 Season 4, on that very day. 

“Winter holiday provides us an unmatched opportunity to to host cricketing events during this period.” said White. ILT20’s CEO reported that he sees December/January as perfect period for the fourth season of the tournament. 

David also stated that, ‘In addition, we believe the December January timeframe will allow the best access to a larger pool for teams to select players.’

The third season had some of the biggest names in T20 cricket like Nicholas Pooran, Sunil Narine, Shai Hope, Sam Curran (Player of the Tournament winner), Jason Holder, Jason Roy, Adil Rashid, Matthew Wade, Shimron Hetmyer, Tim Southee, Lockie Ferguson, Alex Hales, David Warner, Rovman Powell, Fakhar Zaman, Andre Russell, Adam Zampa, and Dynasties such as Holders and Russells across multiple teams along with other players from different leagues like Tim Southee.

The glittering trophy was won by Dubai Capitals after overcoming the Desert Vipers in a spectacular final which was held on February 9, 2025, in front of a packed audience at Dubai International Stadium.

White further elaborated stating, “Season 3 was a big success with outstanding broadcast and digital numbers as the fans enjoyed a step-up in the quality of cricket.”

“The franchises fought hard throughout the highly anticipated 34-tournament matches which ended in a dramatic final that the Dubai Capitals clinched in the last over of the contest. As we shift gears to Season 4, we are with full force focusing on creating a stronger impact.”*
