West Indies beat Pakistan in second test to secure 1-1 series draw

After defeating Pakistan by 120 runs in Multan on Monday West Indies won their first Pakistan test match since 1990 which resulted in a 1-1 series draw.

Pakistan required 178 runs to win and sweep the series after stumps on the second day marked their score at 76-4 but they suffered quick losses of two wickets as Saud Shakeel (13) and Kashif Ali (1) were dismissed cheaply by Kevin Sinclair and Jomel Warrican.

Mohammad Rizwan provided the hosts with a chance to compete by scoring 25 runs from 62 balls before Warrican dismissed him in the 42nd over as he took five wickets in the second innings.

Pakistan’s batting efforts came to an end at 122-8 after Gudakesh Motie struck Noman Ali and Warrican claimed another wicket by dismissing Sajid Khan.

Warrican stated that his successful bowling approach combines pace variation with consistent length hitting and he attributes consistent performance to his success.

The home team claimed victory in the first test match which was held in Multan by securing a 127-run advantage.

“Despite not having played in Pakistan for several years and not winning here for some time, achieving this victory as a young team proves remarkable,” captain Kraigg Brathwaite of the West Indies said.

The pitch holds a ball that belongs to you in its next delivery. Our batting performance in the second innings proved successful and enjoyable to witness. It was a good experience.
