New Delhi: Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Delhi Capitals by 8 wickets in 16.2 overs after Smriti Mandhana and Danielle Wyatt-Hodge easily chased down 142 runs. Mandhana maintained her exceptional performance over the past year while recording her quickest WPL fifty.
She targeted Delhi Capitals’ bowling straight from the first over and remained unbeaten throughout her innings. Mandhana completed her innings with 81 runs scored from 47 balls including three sixes and ten fours. Wyatt-Hodge achieved a score of 42 runs from 32 balls while taking a supporting role behind Mandhana during the match. The opening pair established an unbeatable 107-run partnership which stands as the highest total for any wicket when RCB faced DC.
Arundhati Reddy dismissed Wyatt-Hodge with a bowling figure of 1/25 when she scored 42 runs in 10.5 overs but the team’s chase came to a halt due to that century partnership.

Ellyse Perry (7*) partnered Mandhana for 26 runs to extend the openers’ initial foundation. Shikha Pandey got rid of Mandhana in the 16th over yet the team had already suffered significant setbacks. Richa Ghosh (11*) scored big hits which allowed her team to conclude the match rapidly.
Pacer Renuka Singh Thakur (3/23), who received player of the match honors, delivered an outstanding bowling performance to dismiss DC for just 141 runs. Georgia Wareham took 3 wickets for 25 runs which disrupted Delhi’s strong start.
The pacer Renuka Singh Thakur took an initial wicket by dismissing Shafali for a golden duck. Meg Lanning (17) and Jemimah Rodrigues (34) formed a 59-run partnership that boosted Delhi to 55/1 after the powerplay.
RCB started to cause Delhi’s batting to disintegrate in the seventh over which dramatically changed the match. While scoring 34 runs off 22 balls with fluency Jemimah Rodrigues attempted a reverse sweep but got stumped by Richa Ghosh.
The following over saw Capitals skipper Lanning mishit a short delivery to Ellyse Perry at square leg which worsened their batting situation.
Renuka maintained her impressive performance by taking out Annabel Sutherland (19) during the 11th over. The RCB fast bowler created an instant impression by dismissing Shafali Verma for a golden duck during the first over after Mandhana chose to deliver.
The dismissal of Jemimah marked the turning point where RCB reinforced their control after she survived an initial LBW threat. Lanning tried to stabilize the game with precise batting but faced constant pressure from RCB bowlers who took wickets at regular periods.

The South African bowler Wareham played a crucial role in breaking down the lower order by taking the important wicket of Scottish wicketkeeper-batter Sarah Bryce who scored 23 off 19 balls.
Ekta Bisht proved vital to closing out the lower middle order by dismissing both all-rounders Jess Jonassen (1) and Marizanne Kapp (23) with bowling figures of 2/35. RCB dismissed DC for 19.3 overs after their last five wickets fell within six overs.
“The bowlers did a great job. Restricting their score below 150 proved to be a positive outcome,” Mandhana explained during the post-match presentation. “Wyatt was brilliant at batting. Our planned approach involved bowling at a faster pace but we adapted our decisions based on game scenarios.
The way we started was brilliant. Our bowling unit stands as a point of pride for our entire team. Ekta suffered an early setback in the first over before demonstrating a strong recovery.
Danny and I have batted together for many matches. Our inability to secure a strong beginning left us devastated in our previous match. We persisted with our play today which led to successful shots.
